The dress rehearsal could not have gone better for Austria's showpiece doubles pairing Alexander Erler and Lucas Miedler. At the ATP 250 tournament in Antwerp, Belgium, the unseeded Austrians defeated the American-Kazakh pairing of Robert Galloway and Alexander Nedowjesow 6-4, 1-6, 10-8 in 72 minutes. It was their sixth tournament win together. At the Erste Bank Open, Erler/Miedler start the tournament with a wildcard against the pairing Tomas Machac/Zhizhen Zhang.
Paul and Khachanov also successful
In the final of the ATP 250 tournament in Stockholm, the American Tommy Paul beat the Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov 6-4 and 6-3 in 85 minutes in a duel between two Vienna starters. It was Paul's third title of the season after the Queen's Club on grass and Dallas on hardcourt and his fourth overall.
Karen Khachanov was yet another Vienna starter to record a tournament win on Sunday. Khachanov beat Canadian Gabriel Diallo 6-2, 5-7, 6-3 in the final of the ATP 250 tournament in Almaty. It was Khachanov's seventh title overall, his second this year.
